That's the same pain I got over and over with ICD2 in the past 10 years. Even though Microchip provides free exchange, it does bother if you do have a schedule to catch.

I don't know why they did it, but Microchip scrambled some of the interconnections between the micro and the PIM socket. It is a brilliant idea but incomplete not finished!! But despite the nice photo on the Microchip webpage the tutotrials did not deal at all with the motor nor were datasheets for the included processors and ICs included. Also the software for the included PICkit 2 you must download by yourself. A promising product which is unfortunately only half finished!
