Ocz gaming keyboard

The Sabre arrived in a standard retail keyboard box, with a quick rundown of some prominent features printed on the front as well as a complete list of specifications on the reverse.

Inside we found the keyboard itself along with a Quick Start Guide. The nine programmable OLED keys are positioned on the far left of the keyboard. Each has a resolution of 64 x 64 pixels, contract ratio, degree viewing angle and a brightness rating of nits. The top of the board has a single USB cord to connect to your computer. Instead of using backlit keys like many enthusiast keyboards on the market, the Sabre features a blue LED sidelighting effect designed to illuminate the areas on either side of the keyboard.

Two rubber feet on the underside of the board near the bottom help to keep the unit in place during use. Today I'll be taking a fine tooth comb to the more feature-filled Elixir. The Elixir features an extremely reliable lifestyle of 5 million cycles. The Elixir comes in pretty much what you would expect a keyboard to come in: a long, thin cardboard box only just bigger than the keyboard itself.

The front shows off a large image of the keyboard inside and the product's name and Alchemy branding. Of course, there is also a sentence advertising some of the more prominent features. The back of the box gives a map of the keyboard complete with a key showing what all the extra fancy buttons do, next to the specifications in multiple languages and a bunch of certifications. Also, you will notice that the keyboard suffers from being a US layout.

No UK layout has yet been released, but it is on the books. The inside isn't really very imaginative, but it doesn't need to be. It's a keyboard. This will require a reboot. You also need Microsoft. NET version 3. Once installed, you can turn UAC back on and you're fine.

I'm sure this will be fixed in future releases. The manager software is clunky and not well-documented, but can be figured out. The manager software needs to be active for the OLEDs to work; minimize it to tray instead of closing. A keyboard this expensive really should have a couple of USB ports built in. A keyboard of this type and expense should also have media controls volume, playback-controls and a brightness control for the glowy-blue-lights at the end.

Pros: Very sturdy to type on. It is comfortable like no other keyboard. The keys have a good feel, until their surfaces wear smooth. Great if you're going for a blue LED color scheme and black hardware. After being backed into a corner OCZ is offering refunds tentatively. If you got this keyboard for the OLED keys in windows 7, find this thread using google without " marks and demand a refund directly from them. It is not newegg's fault OCZ rebranded a product and refused to support it, I suggest going straight to OCZ and standing on them for a full refund for this keyboard.

Overall Review: It's an awesome idea. It was advertised as accepting. You'd think a product launched from would have windows 7 drivers. It does not. It isn't entirely OCZ's fault. This keyboard is really another company's product sold under the OCZ name. However, OCZ made its bed with this company and now they get to sleep in it.

Get a refund if you paid full price for this product. For more than a benjamin I expect at least a year of driver updates. Cons: there are no cons other than it's only offered in Blue LEDs. Lackadaisical rebate center. Overall Review: I got this as part of a Combo deal based on the price of the deal.

Well as of today your deadline has passed imho. I sent them in plenty of time to clear. They were due into the Rebate Center on or before 28 February I got them in on time. I feel I should have taken heed from the 1 egg crowd who complained about their Rebate Center.

OCZ has good products but their Rebate system sucks. I took one egg off because I didn't want anyone to think they were going to get a garbage KB for a diamond price.

They will get an awesome KB. If you don't care about Rebates it's a win. I'm officially ticked off. The Corsair is looking better and better. They at least care enough to follow through. Pros: This keyboard has amazing features and functionality.

I use this keyboard here at work and I love the things you can do with it. For example setting one of the OLED's to read copy and another to read paste for two easy Macro's right beside one another.

Also being able to switch profiles on the fly and have the OLED's change for example if you were going into a game to show different weapons, items, etc is very impressive. The keys all feel solid and the quality of the build seems superb. There is also an Internal mb flash drive built into this keyboard I guess if you need it for portability such as going to LAN parties and wanting all your drivers, cfgs, etc instead of carrying an extra flash drive along with you.

Not bad OCZ Cons: A bit steep on the price I own a g15 as well which has great functions and setup for gaming. The advantage this has is definitely the OLED's and the software is fairly simple to use.
