Therefore, worship is the heart of the church, and mission is the attitude of the church. I hold a vision of church as an inclusive community secured in Jesus Christ. Pastor Hal is not married. He lives with his year old adopted son Taylor. Taylor loves to go to the zoo, enjoys basketball, is a really good bowler, and loves music of all genres.

I want you to make good. Sincerely yours, James F. I had no reason to doubt him; yet I could hardly believe that a man of his stature could really care about even the little things in my life. From the moment that we, the first thirty scholars, met Gov. Byrnes at their home in Spartanburg, I realized that they really did care. I am sure that this was the case with of of the Byrnes Scholars.

In every way possible, Gov. Byrnes gave their personal support. Only a short time was required for us to learn that their financial support was the least important of all of their gifts to us. Byrnes resigned, however, in order to prevent the appearance of a conflict of interest between the judicial and executive branches of government.

Leaving behind the associates, security and prestige of the Supreme Court, Byrnes insisted that he wished to serve wherever the President deemed he could serve best. In return for their generosity and support, Mom and Pop Byrnes asked only two things from us: become the very best people we could become in life, and make sure their legacy of family continues for those who come after us.

Please consider making a tax deductible contribution to the James F. Byrnes Foundation to secure its ability to invite more deserving young women and men to join the Byrnes family, both now and in the future. The Donate button will take you to the Paypal site where you can use your credit card or Paypal account to make a secure, one-time donation or set up a monthly recurring donation. It is a network of former Scholars who assist a current Scholar or Alumnus with a need for an item or service.
